Mayo Clinic Health System
Ken Ackerman is currently the Regional Chair – Administration for the Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS). In this role, he partners with regional physician and nursing leadership to provide strategic and operational direction while advancing quality, safety, service, and financial performance for the five (5) hospitals and six (6) outpatient clinics located within the MCHS-Northwest Wisconsin region. His role also entails administrative responsibility for Hospital Operations, involving Mayo Clinic Health System’s six (6) community hospitals and ten (10) critical access hospitals. This includes partnering with hospital physician and nursing leadership to provide strategic and operational direction for the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital Practice in alignment with the MCHS Strategic Plan.
Mr. Ackerman joined Mayo Clinic in 2000 and initially worked at Mayo Clinic in Florida, where he served as the Associate Administrator for Medicine and Medical Specialties as well as Surgical and Procedural Operations, prior to moving to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where he served as Associate Administrator for Hospital Operations from 2015-2024.
Prior to his employment with Mayo Clinic, Mr. Ackerman completed an Administrative Fellowship at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI from 1992-1994 and served in a number of roles at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA from 1994-2000, including Administrator for Digestive Diseases.
Mr. Ackerman is a native of Danville, PA. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA and a Master of Health Administration from Duke University in Durham, NC. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and is currently a member of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Midwest Board of Directors along with several other community boards.
