Physician burnout is an epidemic in the United States, with more than 50% of physicians reporting signs of burnout, such as emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. Many factors contributing to burnout are outside of an individual or organization’s control, but there are many actions a practice can take to create a better environment for physicians and the care team. The significant time spent on non-patient-facing tasks in the clinician’s workday contributes heavily to burnout. The speaker will present the latest data on issues impacting physicians and the impact on well-being. The speaker will provide key action steps to improve the practice environment, including providing checklists of activities that can be immediately implemented (or de-implemented) to improve the practice environment.
